Congratulations to Stone’s Throw Foods for being accepted into UNFI Next! Our Accelerator Members consist of 20% of the UNFI Next cohort.
Stone’s Throw Foods founder, Ben James, is on a mission to bring delicious skillets sourced from farms only a stone’s throw away. Ben firmly believes in the power of regional food systems and sourcing real, natural ingredients. They even give 1% of their revenue to local farm initiatives!
When first starting Stone’s Throw Foods in 2019, Ben took his passion for local food and breakfast hash skillets to the streets of Baltimore with a food truck named “The Hash Mobile.” Customers continually asked if they could find his hashes in stores to make it at home. Ben took this feedback and joined our Accelerator program in March of 2020.
Ben has been producing his breakfast skillets in our USDA meat inspected facility for the past two years as his Philly Me Up, Wakey Wakey Apple Bacon, and his Chor iz Good skillets all contain meat. He continues to own his manufacturing to fill orders and bring his delicious products to the Mid-Atlantic and NorthEast regions. By joining UNFI Next, Ben hopes to distribute his skillets to many more stores and customers.
UNFI Next curates and incubates emerging brands like Stone’s Throw Foods. They will connect Ben to their distribution team and help him garner more growth in retail. Because UNFI is one of the largest distributors in the United States, this opportunity will allow Stone’s Throw Foods to reach more retailers and therefore more consumers.
Again, congratulations to Stone’s Throw Foods! We can’t wait to see your continued success.
