When Ehime Eigbe couldn’t find a frozen yogurt brand that was healthy and tasted great, she rolled up her sleeves and started her own. Ehime and her husband, Michael, founded Sweetkiwi in Nigeria and recently launched their products in North America. Their yogurt is fresh, light, and actually healthy! Now they’re expanding their business with packaged frozen yogurt so everyone can enjoy a delicious, guilt-free frozen treat.
Did you always know that you wanted to start your own business?
No I did not. I thought I would work for the UN actually!
Why did you start your business? What convinced you to take the plunge?
I started my business because I am absolutely obsessed with frozen yogurt and could not find a clean label frozen yogurt and decided to start my own.
How did you pick the product?
I have a lot of passion for healthy eating and I am a sweet tooth so naturally frozen yogurt is my go-to treat.
What do you like about food? What drew you to the food industry?
I love eating food and I am passionate about food. I love watching people’s reaction to an interesting taste or creating something unexpected.
What does your typical day look like?
My typical day is pretty busy. I wake up, pray, and meditate to get centered then I focus on my to-do list which I prepare the day before to ensure I keep focus throughout the day and attend to all outstanding business needs.
If you had to start all over, would you do it again? What would you do differently?
Yes, I would absolutely do it again. I really would not do anything differently because the things that I have done wrong turned out to be great sources of learning!
What does success look like to you?
Success to me is being able to do what you love and earning a living from it.
